It covers a wide range of topics, including the oneness of God, the importance of prayer, the value of good deeds, and the concept of life after death.  Islamic scholars have traditionally divided the Quran into two main categories: Meccan surahs and Medinan surahs. Meccan surahs were revealed during the early years of the Prophet Muhammad's mission, while he was still in Mecca. They tend to focus on matters of faith and morality and often use vivid imagery and metaphor to convey their messages.  Medinan surahs, on the other hand, were revealed after the Prophet migrated to Medina, and tended to deal with more practical matters of law and governance. They often contain specific instructions for Muslims on how to behave in various situations and establish the legal framework for Islamic society.  The Quranic text is considered by Muslims to be divinely preserved and unaltered since the time of its revelation.
